International Youth Day '19

We at Indian Youth Cafe are proud to bring you #REVAMP, you thought it right, a platform this August 12, 2019, to collide ideas that dream of revamping education in India and the World to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day. The theme of IYD 2019, “Transforming education”, highlights efforts to make education more relevant, equitable and inclusive for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves.

Why IYD?

Disparities within and between regions in educational participation among youth are stark, with female gender, poverty, rurality, disability, and migrant/ refugee status all being of a disadvantage even in 21st century India and the World. This also leads to education level deficits and ultimately to the skills gap in emerging economies such as India. Further, education also largely shapes the employment scene in every region where large gaps remain in the input needed to realize the Goals and targets set out in Agenda 2030 and complementary frameworks. While entrepreneurship offers opportunities for some youth, a diverse and robust employment strategy must include options and opportunities for all young people in society as we enter into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Let's #REVAMP!

Education has a multiplier effect in the sense that it helps accelerate progress across almost all 17 sustainable development goals set by UN in 2015, be it poverty reduction or reducing gender or providing youth the opportunities of decent work, or leading to the growth of the industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Through REVAMP we ask a simple question, Is it time to revamp education?
